FAYE is a new musical with music by Write Out Loud Winner Chloe Geller and Book & Lyrics by Hayley Goldenberg and Julia Sonya Koyfman. The musical follows Jewish photographer Faye Lazebnik as she joins the Partisans to fight the Nazis, not only with her rifle, but with her camera.
FAYE had it's first staged reading through the Musical Theatre Writers Collective in May 2022 (dir. Jenna Kepnes) and was a semi-finalist for the Bechdel Project's Room Of One's Own Residency.

How's about a trip to the Olive Garden? Close (But Not Too Close) is mini musical with a big personality that takes audiences on a ride through online dating, anxiety, and America's favorite chain restaurant.
Most recently you might have seen Project Y Theatre Company's production (dir. Michole Biancosino & Andrew W. Smith) as part of their Women In Theatre Festival 2020/21. The Project Y production was a NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival 22” Selection and a nominee for “Grace Notes” Musical Production Of The Year 2021.
The show was written through New Musical Inc. with Book by Paloma Sierra, Music by Dusty Sanders, and Lyrics by Julia Sonya Koyfman. It was featured as part of NMI's 15 Minute Musical Festival in 2020 (dir. John Coppola).

This award winning musical theater writer, screenwriter, filmmaker, and comedian is bi-costal (SEA to NYC) on a mission to make you laugh! Julia is ready to prove the internet wrong and show the world that she is indeed "funny"! Whether you're laughing with her or laughing at her, at least you are helping her afford her gluten free diet.
Some Stuff Julia Has Been Up To...
An NYC-based Seattleite, Julia is actively working to create new works for Live and Digital Theater. Julia has had work produced through several organizations including Project Y Theatre’s Women In Theatre festival, the Seattle Opera’s Creation Lab, New Musicals Inc, Arts For Hearts, and the Musical Theatre Writers Collective. Along with her writing partner, Dusty Sanders, Julia won first prize in the 2021 Search for New Musicals for their musical It’s Always Off-Season At The Chalet Flamingo. In 2022, Julia, along with her collaborators Hayley Goldenberg and Chloe Geller, were semi-finalists for the Bechdel Project: "Room of One's Own" Residency with their new musical FAYE: A Musical Inspired By The Life And Photographs Of Faye Lazebnik Schulman.

In 2015, Julia founded, wrote, and performed in the From Seattle With Love Concert Series, a mix of music and storytelling, which showcased up-in-coming Washington musicians and performers. The series later spun off with Why Won’t He Call Me Back: A Live Nervous Breakdown and Holiday Cabaret. She holds a degree in Playwriting/ Screenwriting from SUNY Purchase and is currently an alum of Seattle Opera’s Jane Lang Davis Creation Lab, and a part of New Musicals Inc. in LA and The Musical Theatre Writers Collective in NYC.
